Spotlight – Featured Member: The Indomitable Spirit: Surviving, Healing, and Thriving
August 4 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT
This is an interactive storytelling experience, where participants will practice Taekwondo movements through the eyes and stories of a Vietnamese child refugee who survived imprisonment, abuse, death, poverty, racism, discrimination, and depression. After the interactive story presentation, participants will practice poomsae (form) and uncover the philosophy and symbolism of Taekwondo that supports mental health and self-care. In the closing activity, participants will have the option to share their stories with their art movement/form.
BRING: no special equipment required
WEAR: uniforms if possible, long pants (athletic wear), bare feet.
